Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp

Maasai Mara safari for pro photographers and photo enthusiasts

Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp is a specialist photographic safari camp in Maasai Mara, Kenya, established in 2017 based on a shared photography concept developed by Arnfinn Johansen and John Siololo. The camp is locally owned and operated by John Siololo and his experienced Maasai team, and is designed to meet the needs of professional wildlife photographers, nature photo enthusiasts and wildlife lovers.

Oltepesi provides highly skilled guides with extensive experience working with nature photographers. Combined with specially modified vehicles for low-angle photography, guests receive excellent opportunities to create first-rate wildlife images. The camp also offers full-day game drives in the best morning and evening light.

The eco safari camp is located in Oltepesi Village — a genuine Maasai village — giving guests a unique opportunity to experience local culture alongside world-class wildlife photography.

Oltepesi is committed to sustainable tourism and contributing positively to nature and local communities in the Mara. The camp supports selected non-profit wildlife conservation organisations, such as Remembering Wildlife and Colobus Conservation, as well as Right to Sight, an international organisation of eye specialists working to combat cataracts. Oltepesi also hosts their outreach camps with cataract surgery in the Maasai Mara.

Locally, Oltepesi hosts a public water well for neighbouring villages, contributes to the local primary school, including the development of a new school building, and supports other community and conservation initiatives.
