I am pleased to inform you that my photograph, “The Future of Arctic Sea Ice Revisited”, has achieved a Highly Commended Award (PSA HM) in Slovenia’s Narava International Contest of Photography 2024.

Over the past few decades, the Arctic sea ice has been melting rapidly. According to the latest climate models, the Arctic could be virtually ice-free during summer as soon as 2040. The accompanying image was captured in Svalbard at 80.6 degrees in September 2023 and provides a glimpse of what the entire summer could look like in just fifteen years.
